OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES FOR PRESIDENTS WEEK IN LAKE PLACID
SKATING
SPEED SKATING OVAL – PUBLIC SKATE
Get in the Olympic spirit while skating around the outdoor Olympic Oval with friends and family. This is available everyday (weather permitted) from 7:00 – 8:30pm as well as additional sessions on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00am – 12:30pm and 1:30pm – 3:00pm. Skating the oval requires an admission fee and rentals are available for skaters who did not bring their own.
INDOOR PUBLIC SKATE – LAKE PLACID
If the weather isn’t cooperating on the days you want to skate, no worries! The Olympic Center also offers indoor public skating during Presidents week. An admission fee is required and rentals are available. Depending on the day you decide to go, you may be able to experience multiple rinks including the 1932 and the1980 Herb Brooks area where the Miracle On Ice occurred.
STICK N’ PUCK
Looking to hone your hockey skills? Bring your helmet, stick, skates, gloves and a puck to Presidents Week in Lake Placid to work on these skills. The Olympic Arena is offering multiple non-contact and non-competitive sessions throughout the week focused on skill development for individual players.
PUBLIC SKATE AT SARANAC LAKE CIVIC CENTER
The newly renovated Saranac Lake Civic Center offers free public skating on February 16th as well as most Sundays (with the exception of big events).
SKIING/ SNOWBOARDING
WHITEFACE MOUNTAIN
Whiteface Mountain offers the highest vertical in the east to challenge every level of skier and snowboarder. The newly renovated Bear Den Lodge is your jumping off point for scheduling beginners lessons. Or start there to access the summit of the mountain and experiences that will give expert skiers and snowboarders a true challenge. Saturday Apres-Ski offers bands as well as drink specials and giveaways. At the Cloudspin Bar on February 17th, the band Legend will be playing and there will be a Nutrl Jacket giveaway .
MT. PISGAH
A classic small-town Adirondack ski and snowboard hill in Saranac Lake, Mt. Pisgah features six trails: one easy, two more difficult and three most difficult. This mountain also has a T-bar lift! Additionally, it has a snow tubing hill with its own lift to pull tubes back to the top. This mountain can be enjoyed day or night for night skiing!

Take an adventure over to Tupper Lake’s Wild Center to have a one-of-a-kind experience exploring the enchanting and illuminated winter wonderland.

Stop by the Paul Smiths Visitors Interpretive Center to enjoy trails that can be used for cross country skiing, snowshoeing or quick walk/hike.

On the third Friday of every month, join fellow film lovers at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts to enjoy a unique blend of films. Lucky for Presidents weekend vistors, this lands on the Friday before! The film that will be playing is: Frybread Face and Me
FRIDAY NIGHT MUSIC SERIES AT THE HOTEL SARANAC
Every Friday night, the Hotel Saranac has live music from 7:00 to 10:00pm. Friday the 16th has Kiel Love, a singer/ songwriter, playing and Friday the 23rd is outlaw country with Austin & The In-Laws.
FREE PLAY AT PLAY ADK’S MAIN STREET CLUBHOUSE
The PlayADK Clubhouse offers a haven for fun and creativity for kids of all ages. Free plays are available on Saturdays 9:30am-1:30pm.
