Is Renting A Cabin Profitable

Driftwood Cabin In Lake Placid - Exterior

Renting a cabin is always an option especially if you live in or near a tourist destination and can be very profitable. If you choose to rent your cabin, the amount of money you can make depends on a few factors including location, features, amenities, and views.

Cabin Location

Location, location, location! When looking at renting cabins to travelers, you will want to find places that are close to an Adirondack town but still have a nice level of privacy. Many renters are looking for a short drive to town to enjoy everything the area has to offer.

Features That Help Rent Cabins

The physical and outdoor features of your property are great selling points when renting cabins to Adirondack tourists and locals that want a quick romantic or woodsy getaway. Many of our renters are looking for that traditional Adirondack cabin, but with modern comforts and features. Adirondack styling with twig and branch work, detailed woodwork, stone fireplaces, screened porches, firepit and other natural features, will certainly help to make a cabin rent more easily.

As for the modern comforts and features, cabin renters will look for WiFi, TVs, games (or even a game room) and air conditioning during the summer. While the Adirondacks are known for the  the outdoors, renters love to explore everything it has to offer; they will be looking for entertainment at night or if rainy days happen during their rental period. Also, some renters will have to work while visiting so providing WiFi will be a great additional value to offer.

Cabin and Local Amenities

Does the cabin have any local amenities included? Some rental properties may come with amenities from resorts nearby. These amenities could be passes to golf, tennis courts and private beaches. If amenities can be included, we always suggest offering them because it will add the extra touch that other cabin rental properties may not be able to offer.

Views From The Rental Cabin

Who doesn’t love a spectacular view! If the cabin has a nice view of mountains, a lake or a brook, it will only help the profitability of your cabin. One of our most popular rentals with Adirondack Premier Properties is a cute little cabin on a brook. The living room and screen porch overlook the brook providing that feeling of being “in nature” while only a relativity short distance from Main Street businesses and restaurants.
