Lake Placid

Lake Placid offers many different events to enjoy an exciting blend of 4th of July in the Adirondacks activities. There is something for everyone from the I Love New York Horseshow, concerts in Mid’s Park, parade down Main Street, and fireworks over Mirror Lake. If you are unable to pack everything into one day, the I Love New York Horseshow continues through Sunday, July 7th, and the Olympic Jumping Complex offers the Star-Spangled Ski Jump competition on Saturday, July 6th.


The town of Jay offers a Fourth of July celebration that has been happening for the past 50+ years. Hosted by the Jay Volunteer Fire Department and many community volunteers, this celebration starts at noon with a parade down Route 9N. Once the parade ends, the grounds of the Fire Department are open with food vendors, games for the kids, and a live band from 4-9 p.m. The excitement continues all day long, culminating with fireworks at dusk.

Keene/Keene Valley

The Town of Keene and hamlets of Keene and Keene Valley are celebrating Keene Community Day on July 6th at 4 p.m. There will be fun for the whole family with food vendors, music, kids activities, lawn games, and a pie judging contest. Pie slices will be sold for $1 per slice. The evening will end with fireworks over Marcy Field at 9:30 p.m.

Saranac Lake

Saranac Lake is a great place to be if you prefer to connect with nature for your 4th of July in the Adirondacks holiday. There are plenty of lakes to explore in this area, in your own boat or a rental. Fireworks start at 9:00 at the Lake Flower Boat Launch.


The City of Plattsburgh will celebrate Independence Day with a food court at Trinity Park, opening at noon, a parade at 1 p.m., a concert on the steps of City Hall at 5:30 p.m., and fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

While traveling to or living in the ADK is an amazing experience year round, 4th of July in the Adirondacks is a particularly special time for the unique communities of the region. July 4th officially kicks off of the summer tourist season, and communities and organizations give it their all to host fun and memorable celebrations for residents and visitors alike.
