Lower Saranac Lake

Lower Saranac Lake provides a wonderful opportunity to explore a larger lake while still staying close to town. This lake has a wonderful history of visits by famous individuals including Mark Twain as well as famous authors and scientists.

This lake has multiple islands that offer primitive camping as well as wonderful birding and fishing opportunities. As you are exploring, you will have the opportunity to see loons, eagles, and even Great Blue Herons depending on the day. If you are fishing, you will be able to find northern pike, walleye, rainbow trout and bass.

This lake does allow motor boats with access through one of the marinas or from the state launch on First Pond.
